Prerequisites

The person holds a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent.

or

The person is at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which he or she begins training and has obtained the Secondary V credits in language of instruction and Secondary IV credits in second language and mathematics in programs of study established by the Minister, or recognized equivalent learning.

or

The person is at least 18 years old at the time of entering training and has the functional prerequisites, namely the successful completion of the general development test and Secondary 5 units in the language of instruction in a program of study established by the Minister, or recognized equivalent learning.

or

The person has obtained the Secondary 3 credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in programs of study established by the Minister and will continue his or her general education in conjunction with his or her professional training in order to obtain the following credits that are missing: Secondary 5 in language of instruction, Secondary 4 in second language and mathematics in programs of study established by the Minister.

To be eligible

Open to any permanent resident or immigrant, 16 years of age or older.

  • Birth certificate
  • Last transcript of grades
  • Canadian citizenship card or permanent residence card or immigration documents

Ask about the general development test if you miss any prerequisites. The general development test is available at the ACCESS Vocational Training Centre.
